Los Angeles: Nate Bargatze to Host the 2025 Emmy Awards with Family-Friendly Flair

CNN — Nate Bargatze, with his own brand of clean family comedy that made him a star, now has a new gig as host of the 2025 Emmy Awards. Bargatze, popularized through stand-up specials such as “The Tennessee Kid” and “Nate Bargatze: Hello World,” will host the awards ceremony saluting the best on television, to be held in September, in accordance with a news release.

“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” Bargatze said in a statement Wednesday. Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego stated that Bargatze is “one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the world.”

We are excited to be able to tap into his unique voice to amuse TV viewers watching this year’s Emmy broadcast,” he continued. Bargatze is currently performing his Big Dumb Eyes World Tour to sold-out crowds globally. In 2024, Bargatze shattered 20 overall arena attendance records, the release states.

Bargatze has prior experience as a host, having served as a double “Saturday Night Live” host in 2023 and 2024. He is also renowned for his Amazon and Netflix comedy specials, such as his 2019 debut special “The Tennessee Kid” and his Grammy-nominated “The Greatest Average American” which premiered in 2021. His third special “Nate Bargatze: Hello World” premiered on Amazon in 2023 and was one of the streamer’s top-streamed original comedy specials.

Bargatze also hosts a podcast titled “The Nateland Podcast” featuring his co-hosts Brian Bates, Aaron Weber and Dusty Slay which is focused on improv. The 2025 Emmy Awards are set to be broadcast on CBS and stream live on Paramount+ on September 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles
