Khalistani supporters target Indian embassy in San Francisco, premises damaged

A group of pro-Khalistani protesters attacked the Indian Embassy in San Francisco, USA. This incident happened on Sunday. Indian-Americans strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate action against those responsible.

Let us tell you that a few days ago, in support of fugitive Amritpal Singh, Khalistani supporters carried out the incident of vandalism in the Indian High Commission in London.

Protesters put up Khalistani flags in the embassy premises
On this incident in the US, the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) said, ‘We are concerned about the complete law and order failure in London as well as in SFO.’

Raising pro-Khalistan slogans, the protesters broke temporary security barriers erected by the city police and put up two so-called Khalistani flags inside the consulate complex. However, these flags were soon removed by two embassy personnel.

Soon after, a group of angry protesters entered the embassy compound and began banging on doors and windows with rods in their hands. There was no immediate comment from San Francisco police on the incident.

Community leader Ajay Bhutoria has strongly condemned the attack by pro-Khalistan protesters on the Indian Embassy building in San Francisco. “This act of violence is not only a threat to diplomatic relations between the US and India, but also an attack on the peace and harmony of our community,” he said.

FIIDS said it is extremely worrying to note that the UK and the US have failed to meet commitments as per the Vienna Convention for the Security of Diplomatic Missions. FIIDS said, ‘We will urge law and order institutions such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), FBI and CIA to ensure that terrorism has no place and support in America.’

It states that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is behind inciting and funding Sikh extremism with false propaganda. FIIDS said, ‘We call on Indian Americans, including the Sikh-majority community, to stand up against extremism.
