11 Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels & 6 Next Generation Missile Vessels to join Indian Navy

The Defense Ministry on Thursday signed a contract worth Rs 19,600 crore with an aim to further strengthen the Indian Navy.
According to news agency ANI, the Ministry of Defense signed contracts with Indian shipyards for the acquisition of 11 next-generation offshore patrol vessels and six next-generation missile vessels for the Navy.
Explain that out of 11 next generation offshore patrol vessels, 7 vessels will be built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) and four vessels by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE). These ships will be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured. Also, the delivery of the ships will start in September 2026.
Earlier, with the aim of providing military strength to the Air Force, the Ministry of Defense had signed two contracts worth Rs 3,700 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). This contract is for radar and receiver. This will strengthen the operational capability of the Indian Air Force.

The Air Force had told through a statement that the first contract worth more than Rs 2,800 crore is for the supply of Medium Power Radar (MPR) ‘Arudhara’. The second order worth around Rs 950 crore is for 129 DR-118 Radar Warning Receivers (RWR).
